Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, so when Netflix is a Joke takes off, all the other streaming outlets try to get in the game. With Netflix locking down all the top comedic talent like Rob Schneider, Chelsea Handler, and Bert Kreischer YouTube is forced to pursue a bold, out of the box, synergistic strategy and gives notorious hermit Bill Hicks a comeback special. Having famously died of pancreatic cancer 30 years ago, there’s a reason no one at YouTube is able to find any of Hick’s recent material.
Once they do realize, it’s too late. Hick’s legions of fans have always believed that his death was some Kaufmanesque stunt and now YouTube’s internal metrics™️ show significant viewership intends to stream the special in the background while doing something else. Forced to put something on, the YouTube team vamps, bamboozles, and fakes streaming issues to make it through the night. But, will a third act resurrection put everything in Jeopardy?
It’s Weekend at Bernies meets Risen in a film the Marketing Department is really excited about.
