Quiet on the Setters

Animal abuse in Hollywood is a fact that no one can dispute. Poorly paid, working long hours, exposed to all manner of exploitation, their tales are rarely if ever told. With the exception of Bamboo Harvester, TVs Mr. Ed, no animals had the capacity to complain or even be understood by humans. Since the oversight of the American Humane Association became ubiquitous on TV and film sets, and the advent of digital effects to simulate actual animal actors, the public’s perception of abuse seems like a distant memory. Now this shocking documentary exposes the heinous prejudice imposed on Irish setters in media and their hateful treatment by directors, producers and even other human and animal actors! We see the abusive treatment of these immigrant dogs in never before seen footage. Barking dehumanizing orders like “sit” and “stay” and the always humiliating “roll over”, these Hollywood monsters destroy the self esteem and sense of purpose of these lovely canine thespians. Wanting only to please their “masters” and be “good doggies”, the setters must be quiet on set or risk their kibble!
