This Netflix original series is designed for the highly sought after ‘short attention span viewer who still wants the binge-watching experience’ demographic. The viewer that needs Twitter approval for having binge watched a 22 episode series, but lacks the drive to sit though up to 22 hours of tv. The viewer that wants the payoff of a semi-clever twist or two, but without having to really work for it. 22 Thanksgivings tells the stories of 22 people or diverse couples as they struggle to prepare for Thanksgiving dinner. Each story is its own 90 second episode, and ranges the gambit from a newbie hilariously burning their first turkey, to a busy professional grabbing a can of chilly at the store instead of a can of cranberry sauce. Those viewers willing to invest the full 33 minutes (less if they skip the intro and credits) will learn in the season finale that most of the characters were preparing to go to the same Thanksgiving dinner, and the others were memories of their loved ones and join them in spirit at the table. Sappy, twisty, faux-deep fodder for Tweet-length conversation and an easy checked-off binge to add to your list of accomplishments on Instagram.
