Robert Clowne International Productions is proud to submit the following pitch in an effort to cash in on 1. the Netflix hit series, 2. the box office clout of Ben “Dunkin” Affleck, and 3. the popularity of of meme stocks such as Bed Bath and Beyond (Oops!).
Here goes. A recently released prisoner (Rudy) finds a job at a GameStop, there he makes friends with a fellow worker (Leon) who becomes obsessed with him and begins asking him to join in a planned robbery of the arcade in the mall. Despite his refusal to join, his coworker imagines he has agreed to participate in the heist and tells him everything about the plan, including the part about investing the loot in GameStop stock. Rudy repeatedly calls the cops but they laugh at him and dismiss him, because who in their right mind would invest in GameStop? Desperate to avoid going back to jail, Rudy agrees to join the robbery, in the hope that he can stall Leon until he can get the police to believe him. Blah blah blah, Rudy is sent to jail, Leon is dead, and Wall Street crushes the meme stock upstarts.
Who thought this was a good idea for a pitch? Well, they can’t all be winners, now can they?
