In the effort to mine every piece of esoteric nostalgia from decades past comes this mashup of the inspirational teacher movie and Sesame Street’s “Honkers” Muppets.
Transferring to an inner city school after teaching music in the Land of Honk, Mr. Honker experiences a bit of culture shock. Everything seems to move a lot faster in this urban environ and he struggles to reach the kids he is trying to teach since his only form of communication is smashing himself in the nose to make a honking horn noise. His young charges seems to have no interest in the compositions of Honkmaninoff or Johann Sebastian Honk, and support from the administration is non-existent.
With the music program on the upcoming budget’s chopping block and options running out for what could be the school’s final winter concert, Mr. Honker’s teenage daughter decides to takes action by replacing her father’s “Honk Around the Clock” lesson for the following day with Big Daddy Honk’s “Honkin’ Ain’t Easy” to see if the students respond. Find out if they do or if Mr. Honker gets accused of reinforcing racial stereotypes later this fall - just in time for awards season.
