It’s Police Academy, but in space. Not sure the pitch needs much more than that, but here goes. With space travel becoming more and more accessible, cities across the country are deciding they need to get ahead of the curve and create a space division to complement their police departments for some reason. Eager to one up the rest of the country, LA hires Steve Guttenberg and Bobcat Goldthwait to head its new space academy recruitment and training facility. But when a comical disaster results in the inaugural class being accidentally launched into space well before their training is complete, they must work together to accomplish something or other and save the city from a disaster. Hey, it’s a cheap script, has plenty of slapstick in space and the cast will work for scale. No matter how much it may deserve to, the film won’t go into the red.
