Part Adaptation and part pretentious drivel, this film follows Detective Chekhov as he searches for a killer that gunned down a crowd of people. His only clue? The assault weapon left at the scene of the crime. Pay close attention to every mundane object, prop and wardrobe element that the detective encounters, since it’ll be important for the plot later. Wondering why he picks up a rose and stares at it for 5 minutes? Don’t worry, there’ll be a ridiculous callback to it later where it’ll seem like it was crucial to the story. Why does the detective wear suspenders? Again, you’ll find out. Did the puppy that crossed his path on the way to the donut shop mean anything? Of course, and so does the donut shop. There’s really nothing subtle about this one…
